Ribotyping ist ein englischer Begriff, der die Gentypisierung aller oder von Teilen der ribosomalen RNA beschreibt. Durch Roboter ist dies schon stark automatisiert möglich.

Methode

Bei der Ribotypisierung wird die DNA verschiedener Bakterien mit dem gleichen Restriktionsenzym geschnitten. Verglichen werden später beispielsweise elektrophoretisch die für die rRNA codierenden Gene. Spezies und Gattung können mittels dieser Methode ermittelt werden.
