Roger Scruton

Roger Vernon Scruton (* 27. Februar 1944) ist ein britischer Schriftsteller und Philosoph. Er ist Forschungsprofessor am Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Crystal City (Virginia).

Leben

Scruton studierte Philosophie an der University of Cambridge (B.A., 1965 und M.A., 1967) und wurde dort 1972 mit einer Arbeit über Ästhetik promoviert.

Arbeit

Scruton lehrte von 1971 bis 1992 am Birkbeck College. Von 1992 bis 1995 war er Professor an der Boston University. Seit 2005 ist er am Institute for the Psychological Sciences.

Scruton hat über 30 Bücher geschrieben, viele davon wurden übersetzt.

Roger Scruton gilt als intellektueller Hauptvertreter paläokonservativer Standpunkte.
