Der Soper River verläuft durch die mit Tundra-Vegetation überzogenen Hügel der südlichen Baffininsel in der Region Qikiqtaaluk, die zum kanadischen Territorium Nunavut gehört. Der Fluss befindet sich in der Gemeinde Kimmirut und kann mit dem Kanu befahren[1] werden. Der 100 Kilometer lange Fluss mündet in den Soper Lake und anschließend unmittelbar in den Pleasant Inlet, einem Seitenarm der Hudsonstraße.[2]

Flora und Fauna

Im Tal befindet sich bis zu 3,6 Meter hohe Weidengebüsche, Zwergbirken und eine üppige Menge von arktischen Wildblumen. Die Region um den Fluss ist Lebensraum von Karibus, Schneehühnern und Polarhasen.[3] Die Inuit nutzen den Fluss seit Jahrtausenden als eine wichtige Nahrungsquelle und als Verkehrsweg.
