Visions of Eight ist ein amerikanischer Dokumentarfilm aus dem Jahr 1973 über die Olympischen Sommerspiele 1972 in München.

Handlung

Acht große Regisseure, darunter auch der deutsche Michael Pfleghar, setzen sich, jeweils auf ihre Weise, mit den Spielen auseinander. Dabei beleuchtet jeder Regisseur einen anderen Aspekt der Spiele. Der Film kann daher mehr als Kunstfilm, statt als reine Sportdokumentation angesehen werden.

Besonderes

In der deutschen Version des Films ist Ernst Huberty in einigen Szenen als Off-Sprecher zu hören. Zu runden Jubiläen der Spiele von München, wird der Film manchmal noch im TV gezeigt. Zuletzt 2002 zum 30. Jubiläum auf dem Kultursender ARTE. Als Vorbild für den Film kann der Film Olympia von Leni Riefenstahl aus dem Jahr 1936 angesehen werden, welcher auch mehr auf die Ästhetik, statt auf den bloßen Sport setzte. Der Film begründete dennoch die Tradition nach jeder Olympiade eine Dokumention über die Spiele zu drehen, jedoch sind diese meist eher sportlicher Natur (16 Days of Glory).
