Lage von Waiʻanae

Waiʻanae ist der Name einer Bergkette, einer Stadt und eines Census-designated place im Honolulu County auf Oʻahu im US-Bundesstaat Hawaii. Waiʻanae hat 10.506 Einwohner auf einer Fläche von 13,2 km². Die Stadt liegt an der Mündung des Kaupuni Stream in die Pōkaʻī Bay. Tangiert wird Waiʻanae durch die Hawaii State Route 93 (Farrington Highway).

Der Ort war Haltepunkt der Oahu Railway and Land Company.

Mythos

Eine Eidechsengöttin Pūhāwai lebte der Legende nach in der Nähe an einem Ort namens Pūhā. Nachdem sie den Ehemann einer Frau entführt hatte, wurde er vom Windgott Makanikeoe zu dieser zurückgebracht.[1]
