Dannie Abse

Dannie Abse (* 22. September 1923 als Daniel Abse in Cardiff, Wales) ist ein britischer Autor und Dichter.

Abse studierte nach erfolgreichem Abschluss der Schule in seiner Geburtsstadt an der University of South Wales und am King’s College London Medizin.

1954 erschien seine Autobiografie Ash on a Young Man's Sleeve, in der er seine Kindheitserlebnisse verarbeitete. Er erhielt den Welsh Arts Council Award und 1985 den Cholmondeley Award. Abse ist in der britischen Poetry Society und gehört seit 1983 der Royal Society of Literature an. Abse verfasste einige Gedichtbände – sein erster war 1949 After Every Green Thing –, Romane, Dramen und Essays.

Dannie Abse ist der Bruder des Anwalts, Politikers und Autors Leo Abse und des Psychoanalytikers Wilfred Abse.
