Della Jones

Della Jones (* 13. April 1946 in Neath, Wales) ist eine walisische Opern- und Konzertsängerin (Mezzosopran). Sie ist vor allem für ihre großartigen Interpretationen von Werken von Händel, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti und Britten berühmt.

Ihre Aufnahmetätigkeit umfasst alle Facetten ihrer großen Kunst. 1977, als der Musikwissenschaftler Patric Schmid die Plattenfirma Opera Rara gründete, war sie eine der ersten Sängerinnen, die lange für dieses Label aufnahm. Sie war u.a. bei den Gesamtaufnahmen von Donizettis "Ugo, Conte Di Parigi", Meyerbeers "Il Crociato In Egitto" und Rossinis "Ricciardo E Zoraide" dabei und nahm ein Solorezital mit dem Namen "Della Jones Sings Donizetti"auf. Für Chandos Records nahm sie auch eine Reihe von Werken auf, wie zum Beispiel "Great Operatic Arias - Della Jones". Bei Collins nahm sie die Rolle der Mrs. Herring in Brittens "Albert Herring" auf. 1993 sang sie mit John Tomlinson zusammen "Rule Britannia!" bei der Last Night of the Proms.

Della Jones ist auch heute noch (sie feierte kürzlich ihren 60. Geburtstag) in der internationalen Opern- und Konzertwelt zu Hause.
