In einem Drive-in werden Dienstleistungen angeboten, ohne dass der Kunde hierfür sein Auto verlassen muss.

Beim Begriff Drive-in handelt es sich um einen Pseudoanglizismus (zwar englisch, aber nicht britisch-englisch). Der originale amerikanisch-englische Begriff heißt verdeutscht bzw. eingedeutscht Drive-through rsp. Drive-thru (zu AE/Englisch: drive[-]through/thru; von: [to] drive through/thru = „[hin]durchfahren“) im Gegensatz zu Drive-in (auf AE/Englisch: drive-in; zu: [to] drive in = „hineinfahren“, „[he]reinfahren“). In deutschsprachigen Ländern wird dafür auch der Begriff „Drive-in“ verwendet.

Der Begriff Drive-in bedeutet in den USA ein Schnellrestaurant, wo der Kunde im geparkten Auto bedient wird, oder ein Autokino. Heute sind derartige Einrichtungen eine Rarität.

McDonald’s benutzt die eigene Schutzmarke McDrive, die nicht in den Vereinigten Staaten verwendet wird.

  • Drive-in-Pharmacy (oft amerikanischen drug stores angegliedert)
  • Drive-in-Store (Store = Geschäft, in den USA populär)
  • Drive-in-Baumärkte (in Europa zum Beispiel durch die belgische Baumarktkette Superbois populär gemacht)
