Dunkin' Donuts ist eine US-amerikanische Schnellrestaurant-Kette.

Geschichte

Dunkin' Donuts wurde 1950 von dem Amerikaner William Rosenberg (1916-2002) gegründet. Das erste Restaurant wurde in Quincy, Massachusetts eröffnet.

Seit 1955 wird es als Franchiseunternehmen geführt. Weltweit gibt es über 9.700 Restaurants (Stand: Ende 2010)[1] in 31 Ländern, mehr als 6.700 davon in den USA und über 2.900 weitere in Nord- und Südamerika, Europa, Asien sowie Neuseeland.

Die erste deutsche Dunkin'-Donuts-Filiale eröffnete 1999 in Berlin.

In Deutschland ist Dunkin’ Donuts mit insgesamt 31 Filialen vertreten (Stand Oktober 2011): 23 in Berlin, 2 in Düsseldorf, 2 in Köln, 2 in Essen, eine in Mülheim an der Ruhr und eine in Gelsenkirchen.[2]

Verschiedene Donuts

Die Filialen haben nahezu identische Sortimente. Feste Bestandteile sind vorwiegend verschiedene glasierte und gefüllte Donuts, aber auch anderes Gebäck, darunter Bagels, Brownies, Muffins und Kaffeespezialitäten.

Zudem gibt es in jeder Filiale Donuts der Saison.

Geschäftszahlen

Neben Dunkin' Donuts betreibt die Dunkin’ Donuts Inc. zwei weitere Restaurantketten, nämlich „Baskin-Robbins“ und „Togo’s“. Der Jahresumsatz beträgt 5 Mrd. Dollar (Stand:2008).
