Hokkaido International Airlines (jap. 北海道国際航空株式会社, Hokkaidō Kokusai Kōkū Kabushiki-gaisha), kurz Air Do (エア・ドゥ, Ea Du), ist eine japanische Billigfluggesellschaft mit Sitz in Sapporo. Operative Basis ist jedoch der Tokio International Airport, von dem aus derzeit vier Ziele auf Hokkaidō angeflogen werden.

Geschichte

Hokkaido International Airlines wurde im Jahr 1996 von einem Geflügelfarmer auf Hokkaidō gegründet und nahm Ende 1998 den Flugbetrieb auf. Hauptanteilseigner ist der japanische Finanzdienstleister Mizuho Financial Group; knappe 4% befinden sich im Streubesitz.

Die Flotte bestand anfangs aus zwei Boeing B767-300, wurde später jedoch um ein weiteres Exemplar sowie um zwei Einheiten der kleineren Boeing B737-400 ergänzt.

Hokkaido International Airlines war Japans erste Billigfluggesellschaft, passte ihr Tarifsystem aber unter dem Druck der beiden großen japanischen Fluggesellschaften ANA All Nippon Airways bzw. JAL Japan Airlines an.
