Der Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 ist ein Aktienindex, der 50 große börsennotierte Unternehmen der Eurozone beinhaltet. Unter allen europäischen Indizes hat sich der Euro Stoxx zu einem der führenden Börsenbarometer Europas entwickelt. Es wird sowohl ein Preisindex (ISIN EU0009658145) als auch ein Performanceindex (ISIN EU0009658152) berechnet. Neben dem Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50, der aus Unternehmen der Eurozone besteht, gibt es auch noch den Dow Jones Stoxx 50 mit europäischen Unternehmen auch außerhalb der Eurozone.

Der Index wurde am 28. Februar 1998 eingeführt und wird von der STOXX Limited in Zürich geführt. STOXX Limited ist ein Joint-Venture der Deutsche Börse AG, der Dow Jones & Company, und der SWX Group. Die Indexbasis liegt bei 1.000,00 Punkten am 31. Dezember 1991. Eine rückwärtige Berechnung wurde bis in das Jahr 1986 durchgeführt. Die Indexzusammensetzung wird jährlich im September überprüft. Auswahlkriterium ist die Marktkapitalisierung bezogen auf den Streubesitz mit einer Gewichtungsdeckelung auf 10 %.

Die letzte Neuaufnahme in den Index fand am 10. Oktober 2007 statt. Nach der Übernahme von Endesa durch Enel und Acciona rückte Volkswagen auf.
