Herkunft und Bedeutung

Felix kommt aus dem Lateinischen (felix, felicis) und bedeutet „vom Glück begünstigt“, „glücklich“, „erfolgreich“, oder „der Glückliche“[1]. Weibliche Versionen des Vornamens sind Felicitas , Felicia und Felizitas. Die italienische Form des Namens ist Felice.

Verbreitung

Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts war Felix ein mäßig beliebter Vorname in Deutschland. Seine Popularität sank zur Mitte des Jahrhunderts hin immer mehr ab. Ab Anfang der siebziger Jahre stieg seine Beliebtheit jedoch wieder stark an. Seit den Neunziger war er oft unter den zehn meistvergebenen Namen des jeweiligen Jahres.[2]
