Food not bombs (FNB) ist eine internationale Bewegung, die 1980 in Boston, USA entstanden ist. FNB-Gruppen weltweit sammeln Nahrung von Märkten und Produzenten ein, die nicht mehr zum Verkauf geeignet ist. Daraus wird in der Regel vegetarisches und veganes Essen bereitet, das an öffentlichen Plätzen an Passanten, Obdachlose, Touristen etc. verteilt wird.

Ziel ist es nicht, eine alternative Armenspeisung zu sein, sondern anhand einfach begreifbarer Zusammenhänge (hier Vernichtung von brauchbaren Lebensmitteln bei gleichzeitigem Hunger auf der Welt und vor Ort) das kapitalistische Wertprinzip zu hinterfragen.

Derzeit immer noch aktive Gründer sind Keith McHenry (* 1957 in Frankfurt am Main) und C.T. Butler, die gleichzeitig Autoren des Buches „food not bombs“ sind.

Von der Kernidee emanzipiert, praktizieren verschiedene FNB-Gruppen weltweit auch andere Aktionen, Analysen und Anwendungen. In Deutschland existieren zur Zeit aktive Gruppen in Köln, Düsseldorf, Bochum, Mönchengladbach und Bonn. In Österreich gibt es Gruppen in Wien und Graz.
