Franklin County[1] ist ein County im Bundesstaat New York der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Bei der Volkszählung im Jahr 2000 hatte das County 51.134 Einwohner und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 12 Einwohnern pro Quadratkilometer. Der Sitz der Bezirksverwaltung (County Seat) ist in Malone.

Geschichte

Das County wurde 1808 aus Clinton County gebildet und nach Benjamin Franklin benannt.

Geografie

Das County hat eine Fläche von 4.396 Quadratkilometern, wovon 171 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind. Franklin County grenzt im Osten an Clinton County, im Südosten an Essex County, im Südwesten an Hamilton County, im Westen an St. Lawrence County und im Norden an die kanadische Provinz Québec.
