Generic Access Profile

Generic Access Profile (DECT-GAP) ist ein Übertragungsprotokoll für schnurlose Telefone und erlaubt die Kommunikation von DECT-Geräten unterschiedlicher Hersteller untereinander. So können schnurlose Telefone verschiedener Hersteller nebeneinander an einer DECT-Basisstation genutzt werden, da sie alle das gleiche Übertragungsprotokoll verwenden und so eine herstellerübergreifende Kommunikation der Geräte ermöglicht wird. Auf Komfortfunktionen muss dabei meistens verzichtet werden, GAP definiert nur die Telefonie.

GAP wird im ETSI-Dokument EN 300 444 spezifiziert und lässt sich grob in MM (Mobility Management) und CC (Call Control) einteilen.

GAP ist nur eines der von der ETSI definierten Profile, die DECT – das für sich genommen quasi nur das Datenkabel ersetzt – in größere Netze einbinden helfen.
