Gita Govinda

Das Gita Govinda (Sanskrit, f., गीता गोविन्द, gīta govinda, „Das Lied vom Kuhhirten Krishna“) ist ein spirituelles Gedicht und eine heilige Schrift des Hinduismus.

Es beschreibt in achtzehn Gesängen die romantischen Abenteuer zwischen dem hinduistischen Hirtengott Krishna (Govinda) und den Gopis, den Kuhhirtinnen im Dorf Vrindavan.

Es wurde im 12. Jahrhundert von Jayadeva verfasst und übte großen Einfluss aus auf die Krishna-Religiosität. Ins Deutsche wurde es übersetzt von Friedrich Rückert.
