Gutu

Gutu ist eine 1.454 m hoch gelegene Stadt und ein Distrikt mit etwa 50.000 Einwohnern in der Provinz Masvingo in Simbabwe.

Stadt und Distrikt sind agrarisch geprägt. Aus welchen Gründen auch immer bestehen intensive Beziehungen zum katholischen Bistum Trier hinsichtlich von AIDS-Waisen und zur Universität Osnabrück hinsichtlich ländlicher Entwicklung. Wie im übrigen Land sind die Ernteerträge nach der Landreform dramatisch zurückgegangen. Unter- und Mangelernährung sind verbreitet. Eine zunehmende Verarmung der Menschen verschärft diese Lage.

Gutu hat Grund- und Sekundarschulen, Krankenhäuser und eine Flugpiste.
