Ihosy ist eine Stadt im Süden von Madagaskar. Sie ist 616 km von der Hauptstadt Antananarivo entfernt.

Der Ort ist Hauptort der Region Ihorombe und liegt in der Provinz Fianarantsoa. Er liegt in einer Hochebene auf einer Meereshöhe von 700 m.

Die Bevölkerung der Stadt wuchs von 1993 11.951 auf heute rund 17.000 Einwohner an. Wichtigster Wirtschaftszweig ist die Viehhaltung.

Östlich der Stadt gibt es einen kleinen Flugplatz mit Verbindungen nach Fianarantsoa und Toliara. In der Stadt treffen die Route Nationale N°7 (westlich von Toliara, nördlich von Fianarantsoa kommend), die Route Nationale N°13 (von Tolagnaro über Isoanala kommend) und die Route Nationale N°27 aus Farafagana kommend aufeinander.

Die Stadt wurde im Jahr 1848 von den Merina gegründet, liegt aber im Siedlungsgebiet der Bara (Madagaskar). Seit 1967 ist Ihosy Sitz eines katholischen Bischofs, seit 1999 Philippe Ranaivomanana.
