Die ISBD (engl.: International Standard Bibliographic Description = Internationaler Standard zur Beschreibung bibliographischer Daten) ist ein Regelwerk, welches von der IFLA betreut wird. Die ermöglichen die Beschreibung von Bibliotheksmaterialien im Zusammenhang mit der bibliothekarischen Erfassung. Die letzte Version der ISBD wurde 2007 vorgestellt. Bei der IFLA gibt es eine eigene Arbeitsgruppe, die für die Weiterentwicklung der ISBD verantwortlich ist.
Der ursprüngliche Kerngedanke hinter der ISBD war es, einen bibliographischen Standard für den internationalen Datenaustausch zu entwickeln.

So sieht eine Aufnahme nach ISBD nach den Regeln für die Formalkatalogisierung aus:
