Jabberwocky [ˈdʒæbəˌwɒki] ist der Titel eines berühmten Unsinns-Gedichts von Lewis Carroll aus dem Buch Alice hinter den Spiegeln (1871). Ein großer Teil der verwendeten Wörter ist erfunden. Das Gedicht erzielt seine Wirkung durch Lautmalereien, Kofferworte und Wort-Assoziationen.

Eine Übersetzung im traditionellen Sinn ist nicht möglich, es gibt jedoch zahlreiche Nachdichtungen in den verschiedensten Sprachen. Deutsche Übertragungen existieren von Robert Scott (bei ihm heißt der Jabberwocky „Der Jammerwoch“), Lieselotte & Martin Remané („Brabbelback“) und Christian Enzensberger („Der Zipferlak“).

Jabberwocky wurde von der niederländischen Pagan-Folk-Band Omnia auf dem 2010 erschienenen Album Wolf Love vertont.

Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy.
