Die AMIGO Spiel + Freizeit GmbH ist ein Spielwarenhersteller mit Sitz in Dietzenbach im Landkreis Offenbach in Hessen.

Geschichte

Nach seiner Gründung 1980 veröffentlichte das Unternehmen vorwiegend Kartenspiele. Der Durchbruch gelang mit dem deutschen Vertrieb des UNO-Kartenspiels (bis 1992, seitdem Mattel). Danach verlegte Amigo auch umfangreichere Brettspiele. 1998 erhielt der Verlag mit dem Brettspiel Elfenland die Auszeichnung Spiel des Jahres und erzielte bei der Verleihung des Deutschen Spielepreises den dritten Platz.

Bis heute ist das Spielesortiment stark angewachsen; neben klassischen Brett- und Kartenspielen kamen auch Rollenspiele wie Dungeons & Dragons (seit 2004 nur noch als Vertrieb, nicht mehr als Lizenznehmer für das deutschsprachige Produkt) und Sammelkartenspiele hinzu, darunter Magic: The Gathering (bis 2006, seitdem Universal Cards), das Pokémon-Sammelkartenspiel und weitere international populäre Vertreter dieser momentan sehr populären Spielegattung.

Das Firmenmotto lautet „Tolle Spiele aus guten Ideen“. Das Unternehmen beschäftigt derzeit ca. 50 Mitarbeiter.
