Keef Hartley Band

Die Keef Hartley Band war eine britische Rockband, die 1968 vom Schlagzeuger Keef Hartley gegründet wurde. Die Band wurde mit Jazzrock-Gruppen wie Colosseum, Chicago und Blood, Sweat & Tears verglichen.

Unter den Bandmitgliedern waren im Laufe der Zeit Miller Anderson (Gitarre, Gesang), Gary Thain (Bass) und Mick Weaver (Keyboards). Als Gastmusiker spielten bei der Keef Hartley Band u. a. Mick Taylor, Barbara Thompson, Jon Hiseman, Elkie Brooks, John Mayall und viele mehr.

Im März 1969 kam das erste Album Halfbreed heraus. 1969 trat die Keef Hartley Band auf dem Woodstock-Festival auf (am 2. Tag vor der Band Santana). Später wuchs die Band zeitweise auf Big Band Format an (Albumtitel: Little Big Band).

1972 löste Keef Hartley die Band auf um mit John Mayall zusammenzuarbeiten.
