Another Level

Another Level war eine britische Rhythm-and-Blues-Band aus den späten 1990er-Jahren. Sie bestand aus den Mitgliedern Wayne Williams (* 19. Januar 1978), Mark Baron (* 17. August 1974), Dane Bowers (* 28. November 1979) und Bobak Kianoush (* 1. November 1978).

Geschichte

Williams und Bowers kannten sich von der Brits Performing Arts School, in deren Umfeld sie begannen, gemeinsam Musik zu machen. Der Rapper Jay-Z nahm sie für sein Label Northwestside unter Vertrag. An der Debütplatte waren der Produzent von Mary J. Blige Gordon Chambers und die Produzentin von En Vogue Andrea Martin beteiligt. Another Level starteten ihre Karriere mit dem Song Be Alone No More im Februar 1998, der bis auf den sechsten Platz der britischen Charts vorrückte. Die zweite Single Freak Me stieg dann in den UK-Charts auf dem ersten Platz ein, die Band erhielt dafür den MOBO Best Single Award. Freak Me war eine Coverversion eines Hits der Gruppe Silk von 1993. Das Lied From the Heart aus dem Soundtrack Notting Hill machte Another Level schließlich in ganz Europa bekannt. Another Level waren im Vorprogramm der letzten Michael-Jackson-Tour.

Die Band löste sich im Jahr 2000 auf. Soloprojekte von Wayne Williams und Dane Bowers waren kommerziell nicht erfolgreich.
