Als Hyperon bezeichnet man in der Physik Elementarteilchen, die zur Klasse der Baryonen gehören und mindestens ein Strange-Quark (s-Quark), aber keine noch schwereren Quarks (also c- oder b-Quarks) enthalten. Hyperonen wurden erstmals in den 1950ern nachgewiesen.
