Mary Wesley (eigentlich Mary Aline Mynors Farmar; * 24. Juni 1912 in Berkshire, Großbritannien; † 30. Dezember 2002 in Totnes, Devon) war eine britische Romanautorin.

Leben

Mary Wesley wurde erst sehr spät Autorin, nachdem der Tod ihres Mannes sie fast in die Armut brachte. Sie schrieb zwei Bücher für Kinder, bevor sie sich dem Schreiben von Belletristik zuwandte. Ihre Beschreibung des Lebens offenbart ein scharfes und kritisches Auge, das geschickt die Eigenheiten der englischen Mittelklasse mit Humor, Leidenschaft und Ironie analysiert und bestimmte sexuelle und emotionale Werte hervorhebt.

Ihr bekanntestes Buch "The Camomile Lawn", das auf der Roseland Halbinsel im Cornwall spielt, wurde zu einer Fernsehserie verfilmt. Es handelt von den verstrickten Leben dreier Familien im ländlichen England während des zweiten Weltkrieges.
