Mount Cook Village ist eine Siedlung innerhalb des Mount-Cook-Nationalparks 12 km südlich vom Gipfel des Mount Cook, des höchsten Berges von Neuseeland. Es liegt unmittelbar am Fuße des Hooker-Gletschers am Tasman River. Der Ort hatte beim Zensus 2006 210 ständige Einwohner und damit seit 1996 einen Rückgang um 69 Bewohner zu verzeichnen.[1]

Das Dorf ist Tourismuszentrum und dient als Ausgangslager für Bergsteiger. Erstes Gebäude des Ortes war das 1884 (44 Jahre nach dem Vertrag von Waitangi) gegründete Hotel The Hermitage. Das Unternehmen gibt es noch heute - das ursprüngliche Gebäude wurde allerdings 1913 bei einer Überschwemmung zerstört.

Erst in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren wurden weitere Jugendherbergen und Motels angelegt, was zu einem Anstieg der Besucherzahlen führte.
