Prismatoid

Ein Prismatoid oder Prismoid ist ein geometrischer Körper. Es handelt sich um ein Polyeder mit parallelen Vielecken als Grund- und Deckfläche sowie Dreiecken oder Trapezen als Seitenflächen. Im Unterschied zum Prisma brauchen Grund- und Deckfläche nicht kongruent zu sein und auch nicht die gleiche Eckenzahl zu haben.

Das Volumen V eines Prismatoids lässt sich nach der Formel

V= \frac{h}{6}(A_G+4A_S+A_D)

berechnen. Dabei sind AG die Grundfläche, AS die Fläche bei mittlerer Höhe, AD die Dachfläche und h die Höhe.

Dies ist eine der berühmtesten und universellsten Volumenformeln. Zu Ehren ihres Entdeckers Johannes Kepler heißt sie Keplersche Fassregel.
