Das Batak-Pony ist eine indonesische Ponyrasse von der Insel Sumatra.

Exterieur

Der Kopf des Batak-Ponys hat ein leicht konvexes Profil. Der Rücken ist kurz mit einem ausgeprägten Widerrist und abfallender Kruppe. Das Batak-Pony hat eine tiefe Brust, eine schräge Schulter und gut bemuskelte Beine mit harten Hufen. Sein Stockmaß beträgt 122 bis 132 cm. Alle Fellfarben sind vertreten.

Interieur

Das Batak-Pony ist freundlich und außerdem sehr genügsam und lernwillig, so dass es sehr gut als Kinderreitpony geeignet ist. Seine Eleganz hat das Batak-Pony dem arabischen Einfluss zu verdanken.

Zuchtgeschichte

Das Batak-Pony wird auf der Insel Sumatra gezüchtet, zur Verbesserung der Rasse wurden Vollblutaraber eingekreuzt. Die besten Vertreter werden auf anderen indonesischen Inseln gebracht, um die dortigen Ponys zu verbessern.
