Fencibles

Fencibles waren eine britische Infanterie- und Kavalleriemiliz.

Sie entstanden im 15. Jahrhundert und wurden im Fall von Kriegen und Notfällen ins Leben gerufen, um reguläre Truppen für den Auslandseinsatz frei zu machen. Ihre Offiziersstellen wurden an verdiente Offiziere auf Halbsold vergeben. Aufgestellt wurden sie von den Lord-Lieutenants der Counties. Im Gegensatz zur Yeomanry durften sie auch außerhalb der Counties eingesetzt werden.

Die Fencibles wurden 1806 abgeschafft.
