George Russell Clerk

Rt.Hon.Sir George Russell Clerk C.B., C.M.G. (* 1874; † 1951) war ein britischer Diplomat.

Leben

George Russell Clerk war Mitglied des Privy Council, Knight Commander Order of St. Michael and St. George und des Order of the Bath.

Er trat 1899 in den auswärtigen Dienst und wurde am 21. März 1901 zum Botschaftssekretär dritter Klasse befördert.[1] Von 1903 bis 1904 war George Russell Clerk Generalkonsul in Addis Abeba. 1906 war er Geschäftsträger im Kaiserreich Abessinien. 1907 war er Assistent im Foreign and Commonwealth Office. 1910 war er Geschäftsträger in Konstantinopel. 1919 war er Privatsekretär des Außenministers. Von 1919 bis 1926 war er Gesandter in Prag. Von 1926 bis 1933 war Botschafter in Ankara.[2]

1933 war er Botschafter in Brüssel.[3] Von 1934 bis 1937 war er Botschafter in Paris.[4] 1937 wurde Clerk in den Ruhestand versetzt.
