Earl Peel

Earl Peel ist ein britischer Adelstitel in der Peerage of the United Kingdom, benannt nach der Familie Peel, aus der eine Reihe bekannter Politiker des Vereinigten Königreichs stammen.

Sitz der Familie ist Eelmire House bei Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Verleihung

Der Titel wurde 1929 für William Wellesley Peel, 2. Viscount Peel, geschaffen, der unter anderem Indien-Minister und Lordsiegelbewahrer gewesen war. Dessen Vater, ein Sohn des konservativen Premierministers Sir Robert Peel, 2. Baronet of Clanfield, war 1895 zum Viscount erhoben worden, nachdem er zuvor mehr als zehn Jahre Speaker des House of Commons gewesen war.

Nachgeordnete Titel

Nachgeordnete Titel sind Viscount Peel (geschaffen 1895), of Sandy in der Grafschaft Bedford, und Viscount Clanfield (geschaffen 1929), of Clanfield in der Grafschaft Southampton. Beide nachgeordneten Titel gehören ebenfalls zur Peerage of the United Kingdom. Außerdem ist inzwischen die Baronetcy of Clanfield (geschaffen 1800) in der Baronetage von Großbritannien damit verbunden.

Der Titelerbeführt den Höflichkeitstitel Viscount Clanfield.
