Earl St. Aldwyn

Earl St. Aldwyn, of Coln St. Aldwyn in der Grafschaft Gloucestershire, ist ein britischer erblicher Adelstitel in der Peerage of the United Kingdom, der von der Familie Hicks Beach getragen wird.

Stammsitz der Familie ist Williamstrip House, Coln St Aldwyn, bei Fairford in Gloucestershire.

Verleihung

Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1915 für Michael Hicks Beach geschaffen. Dieser war ein bekannter konservativer Politiker. Unter anderem war er zweimal Schatzkanzler in der Regierung Salisbury gewesen.

Nachgeordnete Titel

Der erste Earl war bereits 1906 als Viscount St. Aldwyn, ebenfalls of Coln St. Aldwyn in der Grafschaft Gloucestershire, in den erblichen Adelsstand erhoben worden.

Gleichzeitig mit der Earlswürde wurde der Titel eines Viscount Quenington, of Quenington in der Grafschaft Gloucestershire, verliehen, der vom Titelerben als Höflichkeitstitel getragen wird. Beide Titel gehören ebenfalls zur Peerage of the United Kingdom.

Weiterer Titel

Der jeweilige Earl ist außerdem auch noch ein Baronet, of Beverston in der Grafschaft Gloucestershire. Dieser Titel wurde im Jahre 1619 an den Abgeordneten William Hicks verliehen. Michael Hicks Beach, der spätere erste Earl, war dessen Abkömmling und erbte 1854 den Titel von seinem Vater.
