Earl of Northesk

Earl of Northesk ist ein erblicher britischer Adelstitel der Familie Carnegie in der Peerage of Scotland. Der Titel leitet sich von dem nördlichen von zwei Flüssen mit Namen Esk in Angus, Schottland, ab.

Stammsitz der Familie ist Ethie Castle bei Arbroath.

Verleihung des Titels

Der Titel Earl of Northesk wurde 1662 an John Carnegie verliehen. Im Hinblick auf die Protokollarische Rangordnung und Seniorität wird der Titel jedoch kraft ausdrücklicher Regelung so behandelt, wie wenn er 1647 geschaffen worden wäre, rangiert somit dort beispielsweise vor dem 1660 geschaffenen Titel des Earl of Dundee.

Seinem ältesten Bruder David Carnegie war bereits 1633 der Titel eines Earl of Southesk verliehen worden.

Nachgeordnete Titel

Die nachgeordneten Titel der Earlswürde lauten: Lord Rosehill und Lord Eglismauldie, beide ebenfalls in der Peerage of Scotland.
