Marcello, Benedetto, ein Patricier Venedigs, geb. 1686, gest. 1739, Tonsetzer und Dichter, namentlich berühmt durch seine Compositionen der Psalmen, die in einem großartigen, erhabenen Stile geschrieben, von einem edlen Feuer durchglüht sind. Seine Recitative klangen um ein Jahrhundert voraus; er war der Lehrer der Faustina Hasse (s. d.).
