Wingman

Wingman bezeichnet eine Person, die im gesellschaftlichen Zusammenspiel einen Freund oder Bekannten unterstützt und ihm metaphorisch „den Rücken stärkt“, um einen Sexualpartner kennenzulernen.[1]

Ursprung

Der Begriff Wingman hat seinen Ursprung im Film Top Gun aus dem Jahr 1986 sowie einen weiteren Bestandteil im Film Swingers aus dem Jahr 1996. In beiden Filmen wird der Flügelmann – dessen Übersetzung ins englische ebenso Wingman und somit zweideutig ist – gleichzeitig zur gesellschaftlichen Unterstützung für einen Freund.[2] Der Wingman versucht durch Kontakte, gezielte Themen oder der Ablenkung der Begleitung, ein Gespräch mit dem Freund und (in den meisten Fällen) der Frau herzustellen.[3] Weiterhin taucht der Begriff des Wingman regelmäßig in der Serie How I Met Your Mother (in der deutschen Übersetzung: Kopilot) auf. Dabei wird im Bro Codex, den eine der Hauptfiguren oft zitiert, auf die Verhaltensweisen eines Wingman oder auch Bros hingewiesen.
