Die Japan Foundation (jap. 国際交流基金, Kokusai Kōryū Kikin, dt. „Stiftung für internationalen Austausch“) ist eine japanische Kulturinstitution, deren Aufgabe die Förderung und Verbreitung der japanischen Sprache und Kultur ist. Sie kann als japanisches Pendant zum deutschen Goethe-Institut angesehen werden.

Die Institution wurde 1972 gegründet. Am 1. Oktober 2003 wurde sie dem japanischen Außenministerium unterstellt und ist damit Teil der auswärtigen Kulturpolitik Japans. Zur Förderung des kulturellen Austauschs zwischen Japan und dem Ausland werden durch die Niederlassungen im Ausland Veranstaltungen organisiert und Sprachkurse angeboten. Die Japan Foundation nimmt den verbreitetsten Test für Japanischkenntnisse ab, den JLPT.

Die Japan Foundation ist mit 21 Niederlassungen in 19 Ländern vertreten. Der Hauptsitz ist Tokio. Daneben gibt es ein Büro in Kyōto.
