Abinadab

Abinadab war in der Bibel der Name von drei unterschiedlichen Männern, die ausnahmslos im Alten Testament Erwähnung finden:

  1. Abinadab war ein einfacher Bauer aus dem Stamm Levi, der in den Jahren, als die Philister die Israeliten angriffen, die Bundeslade in seinem Haus aufbewahrte. Über diesen Abinadab weiß man lediglich, dass er in Kirjat-jearim wohnte und einen Sohn namens Eleasar hatte. Erst König David brachte die Bundeslade, nachdem sie 20 Jahre bei Abinadab zugebracht hatte, nach der Einnahme Jerusalems dorthin. (1 Sam 7,1 EU; 1 Chr 13,17 EU)
  2. Abinadab war der zweitälteste Bruder von David, von dem man weiß, dass er sieben ältere Brüder hatte. Abinadab zog mit zweien seiner Brüder in den Kampf gegen die Philister. Sein Sohn wurde unter Davids Sohn Salomo einer von zwölf Statthaltern in Israel. (1 Sam 16,8 EU; 1 Chr 2,13 EU)
  3. Abinadab war der zweitjüngste von vier Söhnen des Königs Saul, der mit seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern in der Schlacht von Gilboa ums Leben kam. (1 Sam 31,2 EU; 1 Chr 10,2 EU) Sein Sohn war unter König Salomo Statthalter in Israel. Ihm unterstand der ganze Höhenrücken von Dor. Er hatte Tafat, die Tochter des Königs, zur Frau. (1 Kön 4,11 EU)
