Caswell ist eine Stadt (Town) im US-Bundesstaat Maine im Aroostook County.

Geographie und Verkehr

Die Stadt liegt im Osten des Aroostook County nahe der kanadischen Grenze. Durch die Stadt führt der U.S. Highway 1, der sich nach Norden in Richtung Van Buren und nach Süden in Richtung Limestone fortsetzt. Caswell hatte nie einen Eisenbahnanschluss. Der nächstgelegene Flughafen mit Linienflugangebot befindet sich in Presque Isle.

Geschichte

Die Siedlung wurde 1878 als Pleasant Ridge Plantation gegründet. Am 14. April 1879[1] wurde sie zur Stadt ernannt und gleichzeitig nach R. S. Caswell, dem ersten Siedler am Ort, benannt.[2]

Bildung

Für den Schulbetrieb steht die Caswell Elementary School zur Verfügung, wo von der 1. bis zur 7. Klasse unterrichtet wird. Höhere Klassenstufen werden im benachbarten Limestone angeboten.
