Joseph Coutts

Joseph Coutts (* 21. Juli 1945 in Amritsar, Pakistan) ist römisch-katholischer Bischof von Faisalabad in Pakistan.

Leben

Joseph Coutts studierte am Christ the King Seminary in Karachi und empfing am 9. Januar 1971 in Lahore die Priesterweihe. Nach weiteren Studien in Rom wurde er Professor für Philosophie am Christ the King Regional Seminary in Karachi, später Rektor des St. Mary’s Minor Seminary in Lahore sowie Generalvikar.

Papst Johannes Paul II. ernannte ihn 1988 zum Koadjutorbischof im Bistum Hyderabad in Pakistan. Die Bischofsweihe spendete ihm am 16. September 1988 Bischof Bonaventure Patrick Paul OFM; Mitkonsekratoren waren Armando Trindade, Bischof von Lahore, und Emanuele Gerada, Apostolischer Nuntius in Pakistan. Nach dem Tod von Bonaventure Patrick Paul wurde er 1990 zum Bischof von Hyderabad ernannt. 1998 erfolgte die Ernennung zum Bischof des Bistums Faisalabad.

Coutts ist Direktor von Caritas in Pakistan.
