Lucien Pissarro (* 20. Februar 1863 in Paris; † 10. Juli 1944 in London) war ein französischer Maler, Grafiker und Holzstecher.

Leben

Er war der älteste Sohn von Camille Pissarro, mit dem er gemeinsam seine künstlerischen Fähigkeiten ausbildete und fortentwickelte.

Er selbst wird den Impressionisten und Neo-Impressionisten zugerechnet, 1888 stellt Pissarro mit der avantgardistischen Gruppe "Société des Vingt" in Brüssel aus.

Von 1890 an lebte er in London, wo er Mitbegründer der Camden Town Group wurde. 1916 erhielt er die britische Staatsbürgerschaft. 1919 gründete er die Monarro Group zur Förderung impressionistischer Malerei, die u. a. die Werke Monets und die seines Vaters promotete.[1]

Lucien Pissarro war verheiratet mit Esther Bensusan. Aus der Ehe ging die Tochter Orovida (Orovida Camille Pissarro, 1893-1968) hervor, die auch als Künstlerin (Malerin und Radiererin) tätig war.
