Bei der Volkszählung im Jahr 2010 hatte das County 41.019 Einwohner und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 27,5 Einwohnern pro Quadratkilometer. Der Verwaltungssitz (County Seat) ist Ellsworth, das nach Elmer E. Ellsworth benannt wurde, einem Colonel (Oberst) während des Amerikanischen Bürgerkriegs.
Das Pierce County ist Bestandteil der Metropolregion Minneapolis - Saint Paul.

Geografie
Das County liegt im äußersten Westen von Wisconsin, grenzt an Minnesota, getrennt durch den St. Croix River sowie den Mississippi River, die die natürliche Grenze darstellen. Das Pierce County hat eine Fläche von 1.532 Quadratkilometern, wovon 39 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind. Es grenzt an folgende Countys:

Pierce County wurde 1853 aus Teilen des St. Croix County gebildet. Benannt wurde es nach Franklin Pierce, dem 14. Präsidenten der USA.

Die Bevölkerungsdichte betrug 25 Personen pro Quadratkilometer. Ethnisch betrachtet setzte sich die Bevölkerung zusammen aus 98,01 Prozent Weißen, 0,25 Prozent Schwarzen oder Afroamerikanern, 0,29 Prozent amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, 0,43 Prozent Asiaten, 0,03 Prozent Bewohnern aus dem pazifischen Inselraum und 0,28 Prozent aus anderen ethnischen Gruppen. Etwa 0,72 Prozent stammten von zwei oder mehr ethnischen Gruppen ab und 0,82 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren spanischer oder lateinamerikanischer Abstammung, die verschiedenen der genannten Gruppen angehörten.
Von den 13.015 Haushalten hatten 35,00 Prozent Kinder unter 18 Jahren, die mit ihnen zusammen lebten. 58,10 Prozent davon waren verheiratete und zusammenlebende Paare, 7,50 Prozent waren allein erziehende Mütter. 30,60 Prozent waren keine Familien. 21,30 Prozent waren Singlehaushalte und in 7,50 Prozent lebten Menschen mit 65 Jahren oder älter. Die durchschnittliche Haushaltsgröße lag bei 2,65 und die durchschnittliche Familiengröße bei 3,10 Personen.
24,40 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren unter 18 Jahre alt, 17 Prozent zwischen 18 und 24, 28,10 Prozent zwischen 25 und 44, 20,80 Prozent zwischen 45 und 64, und 9,60 Prozent waren 65 Jahre oder älter. Das Durchschnittsalter betrug 32 Jahre. Auf 100 weibliche kamen statistisch 97,3 männliche Personen.[5]
