.by

.by ist die länderspezifische Top-Level-Domain (ccTLD) Weißrusslands. Sie existiert seit Mai 1994 und wurde lange Zeit vom weißrussischen Ministerium für Informationssicherheit verwaltet, bis diese 2008 aufgelöst wurde und die Verwaltung der Domain an das Unternehmen Open Contact Ltd. übergeben wurde.[1]

Registrierungen finden ausschließlich auf zweiter Ebene statt, die weißrussische Regierung benutzt allerdings auch Adressen auf dritter Ebene unter .gov.by und .mil.by. Es gibt keine Beschränkungen, sodass jeder eine .by-Adresse registrieren darf.[2] BY ist auch die Abkürzung Bayerns, sodass einige bayerische Unternehmen unter einer .by-Adresse vertreten sind.
